Latvia established the first three kilometers of barriers on the border with Russia

Latvia elevated the first 3 kilometers of fence on the border with Russia. According to TASS, the representative of the state border guard of the country Yevgeny Poznyak reported this. According to her, the first section of the barrier intended to combat illegal migration was built on the territory of the Ludzensky administration.

The total length of the constrained obstacle will be 90 kilometers. For four years, 17 million euros will be spent on its construction.

The fence height will be 2.70 meters, including barbed wire. It will alternate with video surveillance cameras and motion sensors. The construction of the barrier began in December 2015. This year it is planned to build 24 kilometers of fence.

As the head of the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs, Richards Kozlovskis, said last week, about 80 million euros are required to strengthen the eastern border of Latvia and strengthen the state border guard of the republic until 2020.

In 2015, 463 migrants were detained in Latvia for the illegal crossing of the border. Most of them are 309 people - citizens of Vietnam. Since the beginning of this year, 15 illegal immigrants from Vietnam and four of their conductors have been detained.
