In the case of Ildar Dadin, who was sentenced to three years in prison for "repeated violations" at public events, a third defender appeared - he was a well-known lawyer, a member of the Public Chamber, Henry Reznik, Novye Izvestiya . reports Reznik will represent Dadin, along with two other defense lawyers, Ksenia Kostromina and Alexei Liptser, in an appeal against the verdict. The meeting in the Moscow City Court is scheduled for March 31. On March 23, the meeting was adjourned , since not all materials on the case were handed over in a timely manner.
Dadin's case is the first and so far the only one of the cases initiated under the article on repeated violations of the procedure for holding public events (Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code) and reached a verdict. Moscow courts also considered the cases of Vladimir Ionov and Irina Kalmykova, accused of the same crime, but both left Russia without waiting for the end of the process. The fourth defendant under this article, Mark Galperin, is under investigation.
Kostromina and Liptser intend to challenge Art. 212.1 of the Criminal Code in the Constitutional Court, Novye Izvestiya writes. The first such attempt was made by them in October 2015, even before Dadin was sentenced, but the Constitutional Court rejected their complaint on formal grounds.
