Transmission torrent client now has a Windows version after ten years of existence

Transmission, a popular client for downloading torrents on Mac OS X, now has a version for Windows. This was reported by Torrent Freak .

The creators of Transmission are not yet actively promoting the new version for Windows, so there are no messages about it on the official website. Installation files can be downloaded from the main list of client distributions (versions of 32-bit and 64-bit Windows are at the end of it).

According to Transmission developers, the release of the Windows version will be publicly announced when the next version of the application is released. Work on it took place over several months and began after the creators of Transmission, who were not skilled in programming for Windows, found a developer interested in the project.

The first version of Transmission was released on September 15, 2005, the client is intended for Mac OS X and other Unix-like systems. A distinctive feature of Transmission is its laconic interface and low resource requirements.

In early March, a Transmission client became the hero of a scandal. Hackers used a build of the application to infect Apple computers with a virus that extorts money for unlocking data on the computer.
