Latvia blocked the website sputniknews.lv, where news from the Russian state agency Sputnik was published.
According to whois data, this domain is registered to Rossiya Segodnya, another Russian government agency.
As Vedomosti notes with reference to the decision of the Latvian authorities, the registration of the Sputnik domain in the European domain zone violates the restrictions imposed on Russian government organizations.
The Russian Foreign Ministry called the blocking “blatant censorship.”
The letter states that violation of the provisions of this resolution may become the basis for criminal prosecution in Latvia.
