As a humanitarian university became the most scandalous university in the country

In early March 2016, the rector was replaced by the rector with a big scandal - the place of Efima Pivovara was taken by Yevgeny Ivakhnenko. It seemed that the new leader would try first of all to hush up the scandal, but it turned out the other way around: immediately after appointing at the university, dismissal began. The most eminent professors of the Russian State Humanitarian University were announced that they would be reduced; After the media became known about this, the university abandoned these intentions. The historian Efim Pivovar headed the RSU since 2006-under his leadership, once one of the most prestigious universities in the country began to lose leading specialists and reputation; The university lacked resources for promising scientific development. The procedure for choosing the rector of the Russian State Humanitarian University from the very beginning was overshadowed by scandals. At first, a member of the Supreme Council of United Russia and the head of the strategic communications of Moscow State University Andrei Khazin was considered the favorite. Then, the main actors were the director of the Institute of Philology and the History of the Russian State Humanitarian University Pavel Kakarenkov and the head of the Department of Social Philosophy of the Russian State Humanitarian University Evgeny Ivakhnenko, who advocated to leave the Pivovar team in the administration. It is known that several members of the Academic Council of the Russian State University called the ministry’s personnel department and demanded that they vote at the upcoming meeting against one of the candidates. They were also told that they allegedly want to extend the powers of the brewer. The pressure on the scientific council caused discontent among many teachers at the RSUSU.

The scientific council of the Russian State Humanitarian University voted for the nomination for the post of rector Evgeny Ivakhnenko; In early March, the order for his appointment was signed in the Ministry of Education. With the new leader, as expected, the majority of employees from the previous administration of the Russian State University remained. In addition, the Minister of Education Dmitry Livanov recommended that Efim Pivovar make the president of the university, which eventually happened.

Ivakhnenko immediately stated that some forms of reorganization at the university are inevitable. On March 29, it became known that the new leadership of the RSUSU was going to dismiss six eminent scientists leading professors-consultants (almost all of them for more than 80 years)-Yuri Mann, Nina Pavlova, Vadim Gayevsky, Alexander Militareva, Nikolai Fedorova, Vladimir Dybo. The Germanist Pavlova and Gaevsky theater were personally called from the personnel department of the RSUSU and asked to appear and sign the order of dismissal. The daughter of the Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vladimir Vybo, linguist Anna Dybo, also confirmed that she was called from the personnel department with information about her father.

On the afternoon of March 29, rector Evgeny Ivakhnenko said that the news of the dismissal of consultant professors have been inspired by someone. “Well, how can we fire people like [Yuri] Mann. We have a reorganization, but it does not apply to people of the most deserved, ”Ivakhnenko said to Colta.ru. In a conversation with Kommersant, Ivakhnenko said that he had no intentions to dismiss these scientists. At the same time, later the press service of the Russian State University said that some teachers can really fall under the reduction-for example, Nikolai Fedorov and Alexander Militarev.

A petition appeared on the Change.org website from students of the Institute of Philology and the History of the Russian State Humanitarian University demanding to preserve IFO, as well as prevent the dismissal of consultant professors. On March 30, single pickets were held at the RSUSU building against their dismissal, and a rally in the courtyard of the university. Evgeny Ivakhnenko met with students of the Russian State Humanitarian University. The rector said that there were no intentions to dismiss honored teachers, he canceled their dismissal, and would apologize to the consultants. However, according to him, some teachers (not specified) of the RSUSU, experiencing difficult financial times, will still be dismissed, and some departments are united.
