500 Soviet monuments are dismantled in Poland

The State Institute of National Memory (Inp) of Poland has prepared a list of 500 Soviet monuments that will be dismantled and moved to museums.

This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Polish information portal Onet.pl.

According to the President of Inp, Lukash Kaminsky, these monuments symbolized "the dominance of the communist system over Poland." We are talking about more than 500 objects built in public places "in the gratitude of the USSR."

“Their preservation is a consequence of the incomplete in Poland of changes in the beginning of the 90s. - said Kaminsky. “This was a fatal mistake that has been a reason used in propaganda and provocations against our homeland for many years.”

In the near future, the demolition project of Soviet monuments will be sent to local authorities. As Kaminsky explained, after dismantling, the monuments will be transferred to museums and "will become evidence of difficult times."

At the same time, monuments in the places of burial of Soviet soldiers were not included in the list, the Polish state will continue to take care of them.
