Yellow magic

In the electronic living room of the Polytechnic Museum, a new series of lectures of the Moscow electronic musician and collector of synthesizers Andrei Orlov, dedicated to interesting and non -banal electronics, starts. The topic of the first lecture scheduled for April 6 , is the legendary Japanese Electric Pop Group Yellow Magic Orchestra, as well as parallel projects of its participants. Especially for Colta.ru, Andrei Orlov allocated 14 tracks from the iconic records from the extensive total discography of the Japanese and brought them to the mix.

Yellow Magic Orchestra - Electronics Pioneers who influenced a number of famous Western musicians: David Silvian, Camouflage , The Orb and many others. Often the group is called the "Japanese Kraftwerk ", paying tribute to their contribution to the formation and development of several genres at once: an embossed house, techno, electro and synth. Despite the short-term reunion of the group in the mid-2000s and the surge of interest in recent years, the name of the group is still the name of the group, Ryuti Sakamoto, who made a world career and entered the Hollywood film-composers, is the most widely known outside Japan. But Sakamoto is only the "surface part of the iceberg." Usually in the shade there remains a whole layer of another interesting Japanese music, one way or another associated with YMO .

This music is valuable not just as an exotic artifact of the 70s and 80s. It sounds relevant now. The remaining participants of YMO - Haroomi Hosono, Yukiyiro Takahashi, an unofficial “fourth” participant in the Hideki Matsuak team and the invited vocalist and instrumentalist Akiko Yano are also independent and influential creative units (especially Hosono). The general discography of artists exceeds 100 albums (both solo and various sites and groups in which they took part), and this is not counting the products of those whom YMO participants produced and published at different times (especially Hosono and Takahasi on the Yen Records label in the early 1980s).

In this material, an attempt was made to give a brief overview of the most interesting examples of this wonderful scene from the mid-1970s to the mid-1990s-from electronic crown, psychedelic-fan, commercial New Weiva, technology, electro to the avant-garde classic, sophisticated aesthetic embosses and radical experiments.
