Barack Obama confirmed the willingness to provide Kyiv Tram on one billion dollars after the formation of the government in Ukraine. According to the press service of the head of the Ukrainian state, the US president announced at a meeting with Peter Poroshenko during the nuclear security summit in Washington.

"Separate attention was paid to the need for the speedy formation of coalition oriented by the coalition and government in Ukraine. President Obama confirmed the readiness to provide the third tranche of credit guarantees in the amount of one billion US dollars upon completion of the government formation in Ukraine," the report said.

Obama and Poroshenko also coordinated efforts to complete the implementation of the Minsk agreements. They discussed the development of strategic partnership between Ukraine and the USA.

Prior to the Summit, Poroshenko met with US Vice President Joseph Biden and Secretary of State John Kerry. Biden assured Poroshenko that the formation of Ukraine of the new government would open the way to Kyiv to obtain new credit guarantees from the United States.

Biden also announced the decision of the United States to allocate an additional $ 335 million to reform the security sector of Ukraine, in particular the Armed Forces, the National Guard and the State Border Service. Poroshenko, in turn, noted the priority for the Ukrainian authorities to combat corruption and create an effective anti -corruption system.

In January, Ukrainian media reported that the United States agreed to give Ukraine credit guarantees for a billion dollars only if the prosecutor general Viktor Shokin is resigned. In mid -February, the prosecutor general wrote a letter of resignation. On February 19, the idea of ​​the resignation of Shokin was entered into parliament. He sent a letter to the Verkhovna Rada with a request to consider the issue without him. On March 29, Rada sent Shokin to resign.
