North Korea blocked access on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube

The DPRK authorities announced the blocking on the territory of the country of access to the social network Facebook, the YouTube video service, the Twitter microblog network, and the Voice of America radio station and the South Korean media. According to the Associated Press, the corresponding order of the Ministry of Mail and Telecommunications of North Korea sent the Koryolink mobile communications provider and other organizations providing Internet services.

The blocking should stop the spread of “false propaganda directed against the Republic”, as well as limit access to sites “containing sexual information”, the agency’s statement is indicated.

Associated Press notes that over the past months, the DPRK authorities have blocked foreign sites, officially not announcing this.

In North Korea, only a small part of the inhabitants has an Internet connection. For those who can use it, only sites registered within the country are available. However, foreigners living in the north of the Korean Peninsula until recently enjoyed the right to navigate on the world network.
