In Moscow, the five -story building of the Ministry of Defense of 1792 was burned out. This was reported by Interfax with reference to a source in emergency services of the capital.

Rescuers evacuated seven people from the building; No one was injured. Another 40 people went outside.

At the end of the fire at about 16:00, more than 300 people and over 60 units of equipment participated at about 16:00. An hour earlier, the official representative of the Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov, said that open fire in the building was eliminated and now there is a liquidation of the foci of smoke. The Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu instructed "to restore the building as soon as possible, completely preserving its historical appearance," said Konashenkov.

As Lifenews reported , three firefighters were hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning. Interfax, however, later said with reference to Biryukov that only one fireman was injured.

A possible cause of the incident is a malfunction of the electrical wiring. Lifenews, citing unnamed sources, claimed that the first time firemen to the building called back at 4 in the morning of Sunday, but they did not find a smoldering cable and left, reporting a calm atmosphere.
