On March 29 and 30, two explosions thundered in Dagestan. Responsibility for the attacks was claimed by a local cell of the Islamic State *

Two mines, made from high-explosive army shells, were laid on the side of the road near the Makhachkala airport and went off when a Ural and a UAZ transporting policemen seconded to the republic from Krasnoyarsk caught up with them. One dead, two wounded... And then, in the south of the republic, a VAZ-2110 car exploded not far from the checkpoint - another policeman died. In both cases, militants representing the Islamic State (IS)* in the North Caucasus claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Earlier, IG * claimed that the explosion at the Dzhemikent traffic police post in mid-February (at that time, according to official data, 2 people were killed and about 20 were injured) was also their work. And the shelling of the observation deck with tourists in the Derbent fortress of Naryn-kala in December last year (1 dead, 12 wounded) - too.

22-year-old Nariman Bashirov is suspected of organizing terrorist attacks near the airport, in Dzhemikent and near Naryn-Kala. Despite his relatively young age, he is a veteran of the underground. The first information about his connection with the militants appeared in 2011, when he was only 17 years old. But the average action movie between going into the "forest" and death manages to stretch only a few months.

According to my information, Bashirov's "underground experience" was interrupted. He left Dagestan for several years, but not to Syria, as one might assume, but to the Moscow region, to work as a builder. During this period, he did not come to the attention of law enforcement agencies, therefore, as a terrorist, he did not show activity. He returned to Dagestan last year, when the North Caucasian underground was going through a period of decline, despite the fact that part of it declared its oath to Caliph Al-Baghdadi and the establishment of the IS province in the Caucasus *.

IG * does not even think about sending its saboteurs to us, it uses local personnel

However, last fall, Russia began active operations in Syria, IS * promised to respond to Moscow with terrorist attacks. A series of "answers" opened with the explosion of the Kogalymavia airbus over Sinai - then more than two hundred people died. It became clear that Russia was vulnerable in many ways, but the question remained: the plane was blown up by the Sinai recruits of the IS *, but will the caliphate be able to reach us directly?

In November last year, the head of the FSB of the Russian Federation for Dagestan, Alexander Mironov, published data on the number of militants operating in the region: 12 groups, up to 50 people in each. At the same time, many words were said about how successfully and valiantly the Chekists are fighting terrorists. Mironov promised by December to complete the work on initiating criminal cases against all identified members of international terrorist organizations who left the territory of Dagestan, and to put them on the wanted list. “Thus, a barrier will be put up for the legal return of militants to the republic and their replenishment of the ranks of the bandit underground,” he concluded.

But in December, there was shelling in Naryn-Kala: it turned out that IS * did not even think of sending its saboteurs to us, just like in the Sinai, it uses local personnel. And the terrorist attacks in France and Belgium again confirmed that there is no need for ISIS to send anyone anywhere. It is the brand and ideas that are exported, and not people at all - that is what those who undertake to protect the peace of our people need to understand.
