Leading Russian judokas failed a doping test for Meldonium

The next Olympic sport, to which a meldonyic scandal reached, became judo.

Four leading domestic athletes received notifications of violations of anti -doping rules, three of whom are the best in their weight categories and were preparing for the Olympics, the whole sport claims.

Natalia Kondratyeva (weight category up to 48 kg), Ekaterina Valkova (up to 63 kg), Mikhail Pulyaev (up to 66 kg) and Denis Yartsev (up to 73 kg) passed positive samples for Meldonius.

It is clarified that all four deny the use of the drug containing meldonium during the period when it was already prohibited.

The Judo Federation of Russia has not yet commented on this information.

Recall that meldonium -based drugs that have become widespread in the post -Soviet space are prohibited in the sports of the highest achievements from January 1, 2016. However, after the ban, traces of this substance were found in more than a hundred athletes.

It is likely that the timing of the removal of meldonium from the body is many times higher than those indicated in the instructions for the drug.
