Android for cars has become officially available in Russia

Google has made its operating system for Android Auto accessible in 18 countries of the world, which included Russia. A message about this appeared on the eve of the Android service microblog.

The Russian -speaking website of the project explains that Android Auto technology is compatible with phones with Android 5.0 Lollipop and later versions. At the same time, a car or built -in stereo system, compatible with this technology, is required, the report said.

When you connect a smartphone to the on -board computer via USB, a special OS is launched on the screen in the car, with which you can view notifications and tips, make calls, use the navigator, choose music and run other applications.

The list of brands of cars that support Android Auto technology is on the main page of the project, but it does not specify which suitable models are available for purchase in Russia. The publicationTJ turned to the Russian representative office of Google, but they only indicated the English -language page .

TJ recalls that, in addition to compatible built -in on -board computers, there are third -party radio tape recorders from Pioneer and Kenwood, which also support Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

In the USA, Google Auto launched in the summer of 2014. Apple Carplay technology appeared in Russia in April 2015.
