The activists of the “Stavropol Association of Voters” were not allowed to go to Astrakhan, where on April 7, a meeting in the case of the head of “Russian Astrakhan” Igor Stenin, accused of extremism for publication on social networks, should take place.
As the head of the association Dmitry Chernov told the ATS-INFO, four people left two cars from Zheleznovodsk on the night of April 7. However, between the Zheleznovodsk and Mineralnye waters they were stopped by the traffic police and the Center for Combating Extremism. Everyone checked the documents, including cars. Chernov was awarded the warning of the prosecutor's office of the city of Lermontov on the inadmissibility of violation of the law. It spoke of Chernov’s intention to spend a “unauthorized rally” at Astrakhan’s building in Astrakhan.
After about two and a half hours, the cars moved on, but six kilometers later, near the village of Kangly they were again stopped by the traffic police officers of the local unit and the same CPE employees who met them at the previous post. The activists began to check the documents again. “I tell them:“ You have already checked us, ”says Chernov. - And they say: “This is another territorial unit.” I ask: “Will you go for us further?” - They answer me: "There are already other units work, this is their business." That is, pure mockery. "
After a long verification of all documents, activists were released. “Having passed about five hours about ten kilometers, we realized that six hundred kilometers (before Astrakhan- OVD-info ) we will not overcome in any way,” Chernov said. They had to go back.
Activists planned to call in Nevinnomyssk, Stavropol and Elista on the way to capture people who were also going to court in Astrakhan from there.
In court on April 7, the performance of witnesses is planned.
Activists of the “Stavropol Association of Voters” believe that the reason for the persecution of Stenin was his struggle for the right of the voter to be present when counting votes in the elections. At the end of March, he filed a corresponding complaint with the Constitutional Court .
