A little more than 10 years ago, the DOOM film was released based on the game of the same name. The game was great, but the film turned out to be no. We knew this, but still went to the cinema - only for the sake of five minutes at the end, removed from the behalf of one of the infantrymen. We found ourselves as if inside him, held the same rifle in our hands and shot at the same monsters jumping on the left or on the right. The idea to transfer the attractiveness of the shooters to a large screen seemed very interesting. True, in the end, even this peppy five -minute fragment did not save the film, and they safely forgot about it.
In 2011, Ilya Nayshuller, the clipmaker, shot a clip for his rock band, in which all the action came from the first person. Despite the low quality and not a very large amount of action, the video “shot”. Even better, he “shot” his continuation , published in 2013. Nayshuller turned out what the creators of the DOOM film version in due time did - to make a really interesting “cinema” shooter in the first person.
But one thing is clips for a few minutes, and another - a full -length film, which Nayshuller began to make from the presentation of Timur Bekmambetov. The trailers and fragments of the Hardcore looked very good, but it remained incomprehensible whether it was possible to endure an hour and a half in this mode. Now you can already state: you can. And the head does not spin.
The hardcore has a great rhythm: almost always on the screen there is some action, but as soon as the viewer begins to get tired of tension, a small respite occurs. Moreover, the respite here is not like in fantastic blockbusters, the authors of which are breeding pathos in between battles, apparently dreaming that their cinema is taken seriously. "Hardcore" is complete without pathos. Rather, on the contrary, they inserted more than one joke “below the waist” into the film.
With humor in Hardcore, it’s generally not bad. It is not so much to consider the film a comedy, but enough. It is especially pleasant to see in a kind of American film (the film in the original - in English) not only Russian landscapes, but also a purely “Russian” elements, like gopniks in a park or a mat for wiping legs at the entrance to a steep laboratory. And how pleasant it is to hear pure Russian speech from soldiers serving as the main villain (of course, Russian).
As already mentioned, almost the entire film is clogged with action. Thanks to this, you are practically not distracted by the plot, which is clearly not the strongest side of the Hardcore. But there is a plot, and it is quite unexpected to maintain interest to the end. The first half of the film is the main character (and after him the viewer) sees a clear goal-the salvation of the beauty-woman-but does not understand at all what is happening around. And exactly at the moment when I want to shout “what the hell?!”, The one who sets everything in place appears.

If you recall Doom, then the Hardcore is the perfect adaptation of a computer shooter that we lacked: a lot of shooting, fights and chases for various locations glued together by plot scenes. Only watching a film is much more interesting than how your friend plays the console.
Nayshuller relied on the only “chip”, and it worked: the first -person view is unlikely to become an independent genre in the cinema (at least until the mass spread of virtual reality), but it was definitely enough for one full -fledged film. "Hardcore" turned out to be a picture for ordinary people and from ordinary people - fun, rhythmic and interesting. And very bloody. The faint of heart will be in the introductory credits. The rest will be happy to take the film to the end.
