The German company E-Volo made a test, manned flight of the passenger 18-rot multicopter Volocopter VC200, reports N+1 .
Previously, a two -seater multicopter, presented in 2013, was already repeatedly experienced in unmanned mode, and in February its developers received all the necessary certificates and permits for the manned flights of the passenger drone.
During the test flight, which took place on March 30, 2016 at the airfield in Southern Germany, the multicopter rose to a height of 20-25 meters and moved at a speed not exceeding 25 km/h. The further test plan provides for flights at a speed of 50 km/h and the development of various maneuvers, and at the final stage, the creators will experience a multicopter at a speed of 100 km/h and at high altitudes.
The video recording of the first manned flight of the Volocopter VC200 was published on YouTube.
According to the creators of the Volocopter VC200, the control of the aircraft is fundamentally not different from managing toy drones. The maximum take -off weight of the German multicopter is 450 kg, and the maximum flight height is 2 km. The battery of the apparatus battery is enough for about half an hour of flight, but the developers expect to improve the characteristics of the battery.
It should be noted that recently enthusiasts from different countries have repeatedly demonstrated homemade manned multicoperers, but the Volocopter VC200 is the first such drone with prospects for serial production. So, company representatives expect to establish the release of the device and sell a multicopter for 340 thousand US dollars.
