Dmitry Monakhov appealed to the ECHR
On July 18, 2013, Dmitry Monakhov, a participant in a protest near the State Duma, against the sentence against Alexei Navalny, who was detained and beaten by police officers, appealed to the ECtHR.
In his complaint, he claimed a violation of four articles of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms: “Prohibition of torture”, “Right to liberty and security of person”, “Freedom of expression” and “Freedom of assembly and association”. In Russia, Monakhov tried for three years to get the policemen punished.
