Austrian authorities requisition Hitler's house

The Austrian authorities are requisitioning a house in the city of Braunau an der Inn, where Adolf Hitler was born, a spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in an interview with the Oberösterreichischen Nachrichten television channel.

The owner of the building, Gerlinde Pommer, whose family has owned the house for over a hundred years, will be compensated, he said.

Before you turn the building in favor of the state, it will be necessary to amend a number of laws, the representative of the Austrian Ministry of Internal Affairs added.

“Deprivation of ownership is the only way to prevent this building from becoming a center of gravity for neo-Nazis,” said a spokesman for the Austrian Interior Ministry.
