The imam of the Khasavyurt mosque was arrested for “calls to justify terrorism”

The Soviet District Court of Makhachkala arrested the imam of the "Eastern" mosque of Khasavyurt Muhammad Nabi Magomedov (Sildinsky) for two months. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" with reference to his relatives.

As his assistant Murad Dibirov explained to Dozhd, the investigation claimed that Magomedov could leave Russia.

The court ruling says that on February 5, Magomedov delivered a sermon to parishioners that contained "calls to justify terrorism" and statements "aimed at inciting enmity and hatred."

Magomedov was detained on April 8 after meeting with representatives of the city authorities. He was charged under the articles “public calls to carry out terrorist activities or public justification of terrorism” (part 1 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and “incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity” (part 1 of article 282).
