Five years ago, on April 11, 2011, there was an explosion at the Oktyabrskaya metro station in Minsk. 15 people died, 203 were injured. Since the station is located near the presidential residence, the Belarusian authorities immediately suspected a terrorist attack. An explosion with a capacity of up to 5 kg of TNT occurred between the second and third carriages of the train.
On November 30, 2011, 25-year-old citizens of Belarus Dmitry Konovalov and Vladislav Kovalev were sentenced to death on charges of this terrorist attack. Despite a broad international campaign for their pardon, Konovalov and Kovalev were executed on March 16, 2012. At the same time, by the time of execution, a supervisory appeal had not yet been considered in the Supreme Court of Belarus against Vladislav Kovalev.
