The first Russian S-300 missile systems were delivered to Iran. According to Kommersant, this was reported in the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic. The appropriate statement was made by the press secretary of the department, Hosein Jaber Ansari.
Iran’s television showed shots of transportation of missile systems on eight heavy tractors with platforms. In Rosoboronexport, the arrival of the first S-300 in Iran has not yet been commented, although in early April the structure confirmed that deliveries should take place in the near future.
In March, in Moscow, they denied messages of the Kuwait media about the freezing of the contract for the supply of anti -aircraft missile systems in Russia. The problems in its implementation were associated with the proposed Iranian negotiators with the mechanism of payment of the transaction, the cost of which exceeds $ 1 billion.
The contract for the supply of four S-300 divisions Iran was signed by the parties in November 2015. Initially, it was assumed that the complexes would be delivered to the Islamic Republic no earlier than mid -2017. Russia and Iran have already concluded a contract for the S-300 delivery in 2007, but due to the sanctions of the UN Security Council and the embargo, weapons were not delivered. The Iranian side took a lawsuit in the amount of four billion dollars, but later withdrew it.
