BlackBerry plans to release two Android smartphones in 2016

The Canadian company Blackberry intends to release two Android smartphones in 2016, which will be in the mid-price range. The company's executive director, John Chen, announced this in an interview with the Arabic publication The National .

According to Chen, one of the devices will have a physical keyboard, and the second will be a regular smartphone with a touch display. It is possible that in the first case Chen had in mind a device codenamed Vienna, images of which appeared on the Internet in November last year. At the same time, the head of the company did not specify when new BlackBerry smartphones will appear on the market.

Speaking to reporters, Chen admitted that the company's first Android smartphone, BlackBerry Priv, which went on sale late last year, turned out to be too top-end and expensive for the corporate users for whom it was designed.

"Many customers have told us, 'We want to buy your smartphone, but $700 is too much. We're more interested in models in the $400 range," Chen said.

Let us remember that the Priv smartphone was presented last fall. The device is equipped with a 5.43-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 2560*1440 pixels. The smartphone is powered by a six-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor. The RAM capacity is 3 GB, the built-in memory is 32 GB.

The resolution of the main camera is 18 megapixels, the front one is 2 megapixels. BlackBerry Priv runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS, and the smartphone battery capacity is 3410 mAh.
