The Russian Ministry of Defense denied information about the transfer of the Konstantinovsky battery and the Konstantinovsky ravelin in Sevastopol to the “personal property” of the leadership of the Russian military department. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov, TASS reports .

He recalled that earlier the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the transfer of historical monuments. “How this nonsense was picked up by the Ukrainian media does not interest us. But why Russian publications specializing in professional coverage of economics and law fell for it is really a question,” Konashenkov said.

He added that the Konstantinovskaya Battery belongs only to Sevastopol as a subject of the Russian Federation, and in 2014 the monument and the adjacent territory were leased to the Russian Geographical Society for restoration and reconstruction. “And nothing more,” concluded the representative of the Ministry of Defense.

Earlier, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that the historical zones in Sevastopol were transferred to the family of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. The Ukrainian department said that “with the direct consent” of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to intelligence data, the object was first alienated and then transferred to the Russian Geographical Society, headed by Shoigu. After which, as the Ukrainian side reported, there was a transfer of property rights from the Russian Geographical Society to “the relatives of the wife of the Minister of Defense.” The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine did not provide documents confirming these operations.

The Konstantinovsky ravelin is a fortified battery that blocked the entrance to Sevastopol Bay to enemy ships.
