Lithuania has banned the entry of 46 people on the “Savchenko list”

Lithuania has banned the entry of 46 persons associated with the criminal prosecution of Ukrainians convicted in Russia Nadezhda Savchenko, Oleg Sentsov and Alexander Kolchenko. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevicius.

“Specifically, we are talking about Russian judges, prosecutors who were directly involved in the case of these people,” the minister said. Also on the list were "some other figures" from the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.

Lithuania is the first EU country to make such a list. According to the minister, they hope that Vilnius's move will encourage other countries and the EU to follow its example. Lithuania and 4 other EU countries presented this idea to the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini. “Our goal is the common actions of the Schengen zone,” Linkevičius said.

• Since the end of March, sanctions have been in effect in Ukraine against 84 people whom Kyiv considers involved in the illegal criminal prosecution of Nadezhda Savchenko, Oleg Sentsov and Alexander Kolchenko. The Ukrainian “Savchenko list” includes, among others, the head of the RF Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, the director of the FSB, Alexander Bortnikov, the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Viktor Grin, the Prosecutor of Crimea, Natalya Poklonskaya, and the leader of the LNR, Igor Plotnitsky.
• Earlier, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko handed over to EU officials a version of the “Savchenko list”, which, according to media reports, included more than 40 people.
• Ukrainian servicewoman Nadezhda Savchenko was sentenced on March 22 to 22 years in prison on charges of murdering VGTRK employees Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin. Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov was sentenced to 20 years in prison in August 2015 in connection with the preparation of terrorist attacks in Crimea. Alexander Kolchenko was convicted in the same case, he was imprisoned for 10 years. All the accused refused to admit their guilt. Ukraine demands their release.
• Russia has begun preparing documents on the transfer to Ukraine of Oleg Sentsov, Alexander Kolchenko, as well as Gennady Afanasyev, convicted in the same case, and Yury Soloshenko, former director of the Ukrainian defense plant Znamya, convicted of espionage. Russia asked Ukraine to extradite her six convicted Russians.
