The Tverskoy District Court seized the property of former Vneshprombank president Larisa Markus - two houses with a total area of more than 500 square meters. m and a land plot of 30 acres on Rublyovka

Information about the arrest of two houses with an area of 308 and 232 square meters. m, as well as a land plot of 30 acres owned by Larisa Ivanovna Marcus, is contained in the Unified State Register of Rights to Real Estate and Transactions with Them (USRP). The property is located in the elite village of Gorki-2 on Rublevo-Uspenskoye Highway (next to the Gorki-9 residence).

The court imposed the arrest in February and March 2016.

An acquaintance of Marcus and a source close to the bank told RBC that this property belongs to the former president and one of the shareholders of Vneshprombank Larisa Marcus. “Marcus told everyone that she was going to sell her house in Gorki to support the bank’s capital when it started having problems,” a source close to the bank tells RBC.

The press service of the Tverskoy District Court could neither confirm nor deny the information about the seizure of Marcus’s property. Lawyer Marcus Boris Grinberg declined to comment.

The Tverskoy District Court arrested Marcus herself on December 22, 2015 after the Central Bank introduced a temporary administration into Vneshprombank. The investigation charges Marcus with fraud on a particularly large scale (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to investigators, she was involved in fraud with loans and collateral for them.

“If the investigation proves that this property was purchased with funds obtained by criminal means, the court may, by its decision, confiscate it and then decide to compensate the injured party (the bank’s creditors) for damages from the proceeds from its sale,” says senior lawyer of the Sameta company Sergey Kazakov. According to Century 21 President Kirill Kashin, two houses of this area in this location could cost 50–60 million rubles.

The bankruptcy trustee of Vneshprombank, the Deposit Insurance Agency, reported on April 11 that it had received claims from creditors in the amount of 81.1 billion rubles, but so far there is only 4 billion rubles for everyone.

Insurance payments to the bank's depositors amounted to 45 billion rubles. with a total volume of retail deposits of about 70 billion rubles. That is, approximately 25 billion rubles of deposits were not covered by state insurance. Among the VIP depositors of Vneshprombank were the wife of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu Irina, the wife of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak Natalya Kvacheva, the son-in-law of the head of Transneft Nikolai Tokarev Andrei Bolotov, relatives of the member of the board of directors of Transneft Artur Chilingarov, the ex-governor of the Tula region Vladimir Gruzdev and others. The bank also served large companies such as Rosneft, Rosneftegaz, Transneft, Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port, as well as the Russian Olympic Committee and the Russian Orthodox Church. Companies' money worth over 120 billion rubles is stuck in the bank.

The Central Bank revoked Vneshprombank's license on January 21, and it soon became clear that the hole in the bank amounted to a record 210.1 billion rubles.

Marcus owned 7.5% of the bank's shares directly, and she also owned 23.53% of the Promstroyproekt company, which owned 3.3% of the bank's shares. Through this company, the bank was also owned by Nikolai Chilingarov (son of Artur Chilingarov, a member of the board of directors of Transneft) and brother Marcus, President of the Russian Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation Georgy Bedzhamov. Immediately after his arrest, Markus Bedzhamov went abroad. In March of this year, the Tverskoy District Court authorized his arrest in absentia; he was charged in the case of withdrawal of bank assets, in which Marcus was arrested. Bedzhamov was also put on the international wanted list.

As Forbes wrote , Bedzhamov owns 33% of the elite five-star Badrutt's Palace Hotel in Switzerland overlooking Lake St. Moritz, as well as apartments in Paris, London, New York, Israel and Latvia, houses in the south of France and Italy, a store in Monaco and the Wine Palace wine bar, where, according to the New York Times, he was last seen.
