The prosecutor's office found no violations in the case of a Sochi resident accused of organizing a gathering

The prosecutor of the Krasnodar Territory found no violations in the administrative case filed against Sochi resident Margarita Markelova, who was found guilty of organizing a gathering of pensioners on January 15, reports Kavkazsky Uzel . On February 19, the court sentenced Markelova to a warning, but Markelova appealed against it. However, she later withdrew the complaint, as the judge warned that she could face a "heavy fine".

The participants of the gathering, who demanded the return of preferential fares on public transport, blocked the street next to the city hall. Markelova claims that she did not organize either the gathering itself or the blocking of the route. “I was passing by when the track was already blocked,” the publication reports her words. Markelova added that the main witness in the case, Igor Gorbuntsov, stated that he did not know her and had not seen her, but the prosecutor did not question him.

Earlier, in the materials of her case, Markelova found Gorbuntsov's explanations, which said: “On the video provided to me, I recognized M. Markelova, who was shouting about the need to block the roadway of Gorky Street. I know M. Markelova as a frequent participant in all sorts of rallies and gatherings.” But Gorbuntsov told the Caucasian Knot that he did not say anything about Markelova, that he did not know her, that he did not see her that day, no one showed him any video recording and did not ask about Markelova. He suggested that someone supplemented his testimony.
