Thousands of residents of Brussels went to the silent "march against hatred"

Thousands of Belgians went out on Sunday to Brussels' streets to take part in the “march against hatred” in connection with the terrorist attacks on March 22. Initially, the mass action was planned at the end of March , but then the police asked to wait, referring to the lack of resources for protection in connection with the anti -terrorist investigation.

About 4 thousand people entered the march, although from 15 to 20 thousand participants were expected according to forecasts, the RTBF channel said. Among the participants are the victims as a result of terrorist attacks, relatives and friends of the dead, representatives of various religious faiths. The procession passes two columns. One of them is the most numerous - the beginning of the movement from the northern station of Brussels. The other is from the Molenbek commune, where they live mainly from Morocco and with whom the names of many terrorists who attacked Paris and Brussels are associated. The action should be completed on the central square of the exchange, where on March 22, a spontaneous folk memorial arose in memory of the victims of terrorist attacks. It is here that both columns will cross, TASS reports.

On the morning of March 22, two explosions thundered at Brussels Airport and another at the Malbek metro station in the Euro -Card. 32 people were killed and 340 were injured. The responsibility for the terrorist attack was taken by the Islamic State group banned in Russia (IG, also Daish ).

The “march against hatred (fear)” was supposed to take place a few days after the attacks on March 27. However, two days before its holding, the organizers at the insistence of the police and the burgomaster of Brussels decided to cancel it for security reasons. Despite this, mass actions in the capital still took place that day. They were held by right -wing nationalists and football fans under anti -Islamic slogans. The police were forced to use waterlets and detain a number of participants.
