A Dagestani journalist was searched

On April 17, Umar Butaev, a well-known Dagestan blogger and columnist for the Chernovik newspaper, reported that he had been searched.

A judge of the Kirov Court of Makhachkala, Murad Barkuev, passed the corresponding decision. The reason for issuing a search order was Umar Butaev's correspondence on the Internet with a certain person allegedly traced by law enforcement officers. Butaev claims that this is the first time he hears about this person, and he does not know about any correspondence.

In his columns and articles in the Chernovik newspaper, he often raises acute social problems - health care, fair and legal distribution of land, etc., which sharply distinguishes him from the inhabitants of his native village of Shamkhal.

Earlier, in the police department of the village, Umar Butaev was already asked to stop his journalistic activities. At the moment, Butaev was released from the police station, during the search and examination of the seized equipment nothing illegal was found.
