Sentence to Sergei Litvinov

April 20 at 12:00 in the Tarasovsky district court of the Rostov region will begin the announcement of the verdict to the Ukrainian peasant Sergei Litvinov. The prosecution requested nine years of strict regime for him .

Litvinov is 32 years old, he was born and lived all his life in the village of Kamyshny, Stanichno-Lugansk region, located almost on the border with Russia. He graduated from seven classes, worked as a cattleman on a collective farm. Never served in the army. He is married and has a 14 year old daughter. According to his wife, "he can neither write nor read, nor can he count money."

On August 12, 2014, on the advice of his wife, Litvinov crossed the border to be treated at the Tarasov Central District Hospital in the Rostov Region: the hospital was not working on the Ukrainian side. On August 21, masked FSB officers kidnapped a collective farmer from the hospital and tortured him in the forest. Then he was taken to the Rostov detention center, where the torture continued. On August 29, the hostage was charged with murder and war crimes.

The TFR announced Litvinov's arrest only on October 1, 2014. Probably at this time the hostage was taken to Moscow. Two weeks later, on October 14, it became known that the arrested man had been sent for a psychiatric examination .

Initially, Litvinov was charged with article 356 of the Russian Criminal Code and part 2 of article 105 (murder; up to life imprisonment) and part 1 of article 356 (use of prohibited means and methods of warfare; up to 20 years in prison). Then the collective farmer was also charged with part 3 of article 162 (robbery; up to 12 years). At the end of November, the TFR dropped Litvinov from charges of murder and illegal methods of warfare .
