The Krasnodar Regional Court issued a second verdict against local resident Galust Keshinyan, finding him guilty of the murder of police colonel Nodarii Bagishvili, which he committed out of revenge for the death of his brother.
As reported on the website of the regional prosecutor's office, in 2003, in the Sochi cafe "Rosary" during a conflict with security guards, the brother of the defendant, police inspector Artak Keshishyan, was killed. The owner of the cafe was the son of the then head of the Sochi Internal Affairs Directorate Nodariya Bagishvili.
According to the prosecutor's office, the brother of the deceased suspected Colonel Bagishvili of organizing his murder and decided to take revenge on him. To do this, he attracted two of his acquaintances, together with whom on September 28, 2003, he shot up the car of the head of the Internal Affairs Directorate with machine guns. Bagishvili died on the spot. Subsequently, three cafe security guards were convicted of committing the murder of the defendant's brother.
By the decision of the Krasnodar Regional Court, Keshinyan was sentenced to 11 years and six months in prison under paragraphs “f”, “g” of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code (murder committed in a generally dangerous way, by a group of persons by prior conspiracy). This is the second verdict handed down against Keshinyan in the case of the colonel’s murder. As Kommersant wrote , in April 2008 he was sentenced to 16 years in a maximum security colony.
During the first trial, Keshinyan admitted his guilt and explained that he was pushed to commit the crime by the inaction of law enforcement agencies, who were unable to find his brother’s killers. However, the Supreme Court, as Yugopolis reported , sent his case for review, since the sentence against Keshinyan was pronounced by the judge who had previously sent his accomplice to the colony.
After the death of Colonel Bagishvili, his first son, Evgeny Teplyakov, became a State Duma deputy from the LDPR, and the second, Viktor Teplyakov, became a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnodar Territory.
