The Civic Assistance Committee announced a fundraiser for a citizen of Tajikistan injured in the Moscow metro

The Civic Assistance Committee has begun collecting money for an operation for citizen of Tajikistan Sulaimon Saidov and assistance to his family, according to the organization’s website.

Saidov's life is now out of danger, but he will need another operation to save his eye, the committee notes. After this, he will undergo a long course of rehabilitation.

Saidov, 38, was wounded in the Moscow metro on April 8. The man was returning home from work with his 19-year-old nephew Muhammadjon Khakimov. At the Profsoyuznaya station, a drunken Muscovite Sergei Tsarev entered the carriage. He got into a verbal altercation with Saidov and then began to threaten him. After this, the Muscovite shot Saidov several times with a traumatic pistol. Three bullets hit the victim in the head, one more in the stomach.

Tsarev was detained that same evening, and later the court sent him to a pre-trial detention center. He was charged with attempted murder (Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code).
