Kudrin agreed to become the chairman of the Center for Strategic Development

"I am sure that we are on the verge of new changes that have been risen," said former Minister of Finance

Former Minister of Finance Alexei Kudrin took the post of chairman of the Center for Strategic Development (CSR) under the Government of Russia. He announced this at the International Scientific Conference organized by the Higher School of Economics. According to him, in the coming days, his appointment will be officially announced.

During the forum, he also stated that the institutions of the judicial system, government, education and healthcare in Russia are working unsatisfactory. “I am sure that we are on the verge of new changes that have been related,” Kudrin added, noting that the “role of the political system and leaders” in the transformations, in his opinion, “is higher than the wise and good plan that the economists will prepare.”

Alexey Kudrin served as Minister of Finance of Russia in 2000-2011. He left the Cabinet of Ministers due to disagreements with Dmitry Medvedev, who at that time the president’s post. Now Kudrin is the head of the Committee of Civil Initiatives, as well as a member of the Presidium of the Economic Council under the President of Russia.

The Center for Strategic Development was created in 1999 as the main "brain center" of Putin's election headquarters.
