Vnesheconombank decided to create a client service to raise funds from companies taking loans to the state corporation. The newspaper "Kommersant" writes about this in the issue of April 20 with reference to unnamed sources.
According to the publication, the new unit should make sure that VEB customers not only occupy funds from him, but also place money in it. The corporation expects that in the first few months of the client service, 100 billion rubles will be attracted.
The VEB press service confirmed the newspaper the fact of creating a client service, but they refused further comments.
As the interlocutors of Kommersant indicate, now 365 companies are listed in VEB borrowers. Moreover, only five of them have opened accounts in VEB, and only two in the accounts have money. The publication indicates that the state corporation does not have a banking license, so the VEB cannot attract funds of individuals and legal entities, with the exception of those to whom it issues loans.
On April 19, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that the functions of VEB as a commercial bank and the Institute for Economics should be divided, including “in normative material”. He explained that in this case, the corporation will not accumulate bad liabilities, at the same time, the VEB will still be able to solve the problems of the development of the economy, including supporting important and large state projects.
