Judge of the Dzerzhinsky District Court of Orenburg Elena Verkashinskaya rejected the appeal of the writer Sergei Lazarov about the verdict for the publication of the Espy Evil Christ. This was reported by the Center "Owl". Lazarov’s sentence to a fine of 35 thousand rubles with exemption from his payment for the expiration of the statute of limitations entered into legal force.

The writer said that he would further appeal the verdict.

Lazarov placed the essay "The Evil Christ" on the Internet on July 1, 2013. In the text dedicated to a certain icon of Christ, the author called the Savior in particular the "killer", "god-handler" and "tyrant".

In 2014, the operative of the regional CPE Artem Bekeev, having familiarized him with the essay, sent him for examination, and on July 30 of the same year, after receiving the results of the study, he turned to the Investigative Committee.

On June 10, 2015, the Investigative Department opened a case against Lazarov under Part 1 of Article 148 of the Criminal Code (insulting the feelings of believers), which provides for up to a year of the colony. As the writer’s lawyer, which was not called “owl” named, noted, was already illegal, the initiation of the case was already illegal, since the composition of Article 148 suggests the presence of victims, and Bekeev did not indicate such as the results of the audit. The lawyer also announced "numerous procedural violations of operatives and investigators."

The verdict of Lazarov issued on February 24, 2016 one of the nine magistrates working on the territory of the Dzerzhinsky judicial district. Who exactly from the judges considered the case is not specified. At the same time, information about the case first appeared in the media only on April 14.

Lazarov is 28 years old. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Orenburg University. He taught at the same university in the Orenburg Medical University. The author of the book of stories "The problem of language and activity in the philosophy of L. Wittgenstein." In addition to stories and essays in Russian, he also writes poetry in Bolgarian.

Whether the dismissal of Lazarov from the medical university is related to a criminal case against him is unknown.
