“After the reactor accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which occurred on April 26, 1986, the fire raged at the plant for 10 days, contaminating the environment with a huge amount of radioactive particles in large areas of Ukraine, Belarus and Russia. The areas around the nuclear power plant were evacuated. The exclusion zone around the plant has a radius of 30 km is still uninhabitable.

During our press tour of Belarus, we visited the exclusion zone in the Gomel region. Now in the zone there is the Polesie Radiation-Ecological Reserve, where they study the effect of radiation on animals and plants.”
