The director of the Library of Ukrainian Literature, Natalya Sharina, who is accused of inciting ethnic hatred and embezzlement, has had her house arrest extended by three months, until July 29. It is reported by TASS.
The court thus agreed with the arguments of the investigator that there were no grounds for mitigating Sharina's preventive measure.
Sharina was accused of inciting hatred due to the fact that during a search in the library, a book by UNA-UNSO leader Dmitry Korchinsky was found, which was recognized as extremist material. Sharina claims that the book was planted on her.
Later, Sharina was also prosecuted for embezzlement using her official position on an especially large scale: according to the investigation, in 2011-2013, when she was also prosecuted for inciting hatred, she spent funds earmarked for paying salaries to defend herself. library lawyers. Lawyer Ivan Pavlov, representing the interests of Sharina, believes that the embezzlement case was opened to intimidate and extend the period of house arrest.
