Meanwhile, one of the organizers of the show, the lawyer Natalya Veselnitskaya, told TASS that the event was canceled due to blackmail Brauder. "The organizers of the show received a letter from Brauder, in which he simply intimidated them with court claims," ​​she said.

Veselnitskaya also noticed that "the film was accused of pro -Russian propaganda."

Nekrasov’s film states that Magnitsky was not beaten in prison, that he did not testify against Russian officials and did not investigate the theft of budget funds for a total of 5.4 billion rubles.

Earlier on Wednesday, the mother of the deceased lawyer Natalya Magnitskaya and his widow, who is also called Natalya, protested in connection with the scheduled show . "Any part of the film, any excerpt, where the author is trying to lick Magnitsky, is easily refuted by a huge number of documents, eyewitnesses, conclusions of independent commissions and expert conclusions," the Magnitsky statement said.

The authors of the document called the film false and put it on a par with Russian propaganda ribbons shot in order to denigrate Magnitsky’s name and justify the persons involved in his death.

It was also noted that the picture used an interview taken by Nekrasov from Magnitsky’s mother, which she later forbade to include in the film. This requirement of Nekrasov ignored, the authors of the statement noted, and he interpreted the words of Magnitsky’s mother "in a completely unworthy, perplex way."

Magnitsky, the auditor of Hermitage Capital, in 2008 opened the theft of budget funds in the amount of 5.4 billion rubles (230 million dollars at the then rate). After that, he was arrested on charges of tax evasion. On November 16, 2009, a few days before the expiration of the maximum under the annual period of detention, 37-year-old Magnitsky died in the metropolitan pre-trial detention center-1 "Sailor Silence" under unclear circumstances.
