The head of an initiative group of residents was detained before a meeting with the mayor of Sochi

In Adler, on April 27, the police took Vakhtang Tsindeniali, the head of an initiative group that protects the rights of residents in the village of Mirny, from the house. This was reported to OVD-Info by his wife Marina Hovhannisyan.

The detention took place two hours before a scheduled meeting with Sochi Mayor Anatoly Pakhomov, dedicated to the allocation of land for children's development centers. Law enforcement officials told the detainee that they "received a report" that he was a drug user. From whom the application was received, it was not reported. According to Hovhannisyan, Tsindeniali was held by the police for about two hours and "they took tests." Whether a protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up against him is unknown at the time of writing.

Activists consider the detention an attempt to put pressure on the part of law enforcement agencies. According to them, the head of the Sochi police, Sergei Ogurtsov, is trying to obtain through the court for his needs plots of land intended for children. Ovanesyan suggests that Alexander Zachitailov, head of the Sochi Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, is assisting Ogurtsov.
