Today's regionalists are underground, their conclusions are the same. But there were brief glimpses. Valery Zubov became the first governor in Siberia elected by the Siberians themselves. On April 25, 1993, 73% voted for him, the 39-year-old doctor of economic sciences in free and competitive elections.

Under Zubov and Vyacheslav Novikov (then the chairman of the regional council, he died two years ago), the Krasnoyarsk Territory became a leader among donor regions in defending their interests, in the struggle for real federalism. Was the first. But both teeth and Novikov were true statesmen. They, not wanting the collapse of Russia, advocated a real federation with the equality of all its subjects, with the control of regions over how the center uses their resources.

Due to professional restrictions, I did not allow rapprochement with the governor, but I did not refuse him in long conversations: they talked about the most different. Cursed to a scream. Because of the Chechen war-Zubov sided with Yeltsin and Grachev. Then, because of Nemtsov, who collected signatures against the war: it seemed to Zubov to Zubov. Zubov died on the night of April 28. His opponent, whom he did not forgive, - General Lebed died on April 28, 2002.

Such a thickening of the dates seems to emphasize the importance of what happened on April 26, 1998 in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, this forking for Russia.
