The rocket will bring three satellites into orbit: “Lomonosov”, “AIST-2D” and SAMSAT-218. The missile was insured for 1.8 billion rubles, the starting complex - for 24 billion rubles. Prior to this, it was reported that it was not planned to insure the launch.
The launch was followed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“I want to congratulate you. There is something to be proud of. Yesterday, the technique overdid it a bit, in principle, it was possible to let it go yesterday, but the technique overdid it and stopped the start. This is a normal phenomenon. The most important thing is that the site works, you have prepared well, functions. There are still many works, it is large, but this, of course, is a very serious, significant step in the development of Russian cosmonautics, ”Putin said.
Initially, the launch was supposed to take place on April 27, but due to a failure in the automatic control system, the launch of the rocket was transferred for a day. The Roscosmos emphasized that the problem arose in the rocket itself and is not related to the infrastructure of the cosmodrome. Putin decided to linger on the eastern until re -launch.
A break after the first launch will last more than a year. From 2018, no more than three launches will be made annually.
The construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome began in the summer of 2012. During the construction, workers have a strike several times due to thefts, the damage from which is estimated at 1.5 billion rubles. Several criminal cases have been instituted.
It was originally planned that the cosmodrome would be completely built and commissioned in 2015. The first launch was planned to be made at the end of December, but was postponed due to the schedule lag in the construction of the cosmodrome.
