Hands off the wall of Tsoi on the Arbat!

I am a devoted fan of the work of Viktor Tsoi and the Kino group. I am listening to their songs from adolescence. I know many by heart. I sincerely believe that "cinema" is the brightest domestic cultural phenomenon of the perestroika period, and maybe the entire second half of the last century. Few people love and love so much like Tsoi. There is probably not a single settlement in our country, where it would be impossible to find walls or fence with the inscription "Tsoi!" A quarter of a century has passed since his death, but he is still remembered and listened. Moreover, not only adults are already people who grew up on his songs. Oddly enough, the modern teenagers of the VKontakte era, gadgets and computer games also join the multimillion -dollar army of group fans.

I have the news that Moscow municipal deputies want to paint over the Tsoi wall on Arbat, this folk memorial, caused bewilderment and indignation. There are officials in the worst sense of the word. Sudden soulless bureaucrats completely lost in touch with reality. Young people make noise at night, sings under guitars, drinks, draws on the walls? Prohibit! And it doesn’t matter what they sing, and it doesn’t matter what they draw. Vandals and that's it. What is there to discuss? Probably the deputy who wanted to paint over the wall is not a fan of the Kino group. I can understand this. Honestly, classical music is somehow not very good for me. But I will be the first to defend the monument to Tchaikovsky, if some deputy for some reason offers him to demolish!

In my opinion, it is obvious that the vandals in this story are not fans, drawing graffiti in memory of the great poet and musician, but municipal deputies offering to destroy the national monument. However, they already realized that they got excited. I think that they even regretted that they raised this topic in general. The reaction of the adequate public was instant and in a good aggressive. State Duma deputies connected , prominent members of various political parties. Federal television channels criticized a strange initiative. The petition on the Internet demanding to leave the wall alone collected almost 35 thousand signatures. In order to finally close the issue and protect the Tsoi wall from possible encroachments, you need to assign it the status of the monument. In the end, the famous "Kamchatka" in St. Petersburg was also once the usual place of meetings of fans, and now has quite an official status.

What is the problem, you ask? In the commission on monumental art under the Moscow City Duma ... I simply spoke amazingly yesterday on this topic, its deputy chairman. "We will appropriate the status of the monument, if the people are throwing themselves and pays out of their pockets to bring the wall into proper form. And if the people do not throw themselves, then we will not even consider this issue." The quote is not a verbatim, but the meaning is approximately like that. Assessed the degree of cynicism and indifference? And this says the official responsible for monuments in the city with one of the largest budgets in the world! Want the monument to Dostoevsky? Well, you will throw yourself, install it at your own expense, and we, so be it, will assign him an official status. And after all, we are not talking about, but about Victor Tsoi, a popular favorite!

For some reason, it always seemed to me that of all officials the closest to the people was municipal and city deputies. In the State Duma, people still solve global problems and think in somewhat in other categories. It turns out that this is not always the case. Thank God that in this story, it seems, now everything will end well. It is a pity that there is not always a government for municipalities, who have so many ideas about how to improve our life!
