Savik Shuster ends his hunger strike
Ukrainian TV presenter Savik Shuster announced the end of the hunger strike, which he began on April 26 due to the fact that the country's authorities revoked his work permit, Interfax reports .
The day before, the State Employment Service of Ukraine suspended the decision of its Kiev division to revoke Shuster’s work permit.
“We suspended the hunger strike, which lasted a day and a half - this is the shortest hunger strike in the world, in my opinion,” the journalist said today.
He added that if the country's authorities “continue, we will also continue.”
The Kiev Employment Center revoked Shuster’s permission to work in the country due to the fact that the journalist provided false information, in particular, he kept silent about the criminal case about non-payment of taxes by him and his company.
President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groysman and other officials expressed support for Shuster.
Citizen of Italy and Canada Savik Shuster has been working in Ukraine since 2005. Before that, he hosted programs on Russian NTV and RBC.
