The AFP Twitter account reports that thousands of protesters took up the plunder of the parliament building. This is confirmed by photos from social networks from the inside of the building. Rudaw television channel began a live broadcast from the walls of the parliament.
According to Reuters, supporters of the Muktada of AS -Sadra, a radical Shiite preacher, after the Iraqi campaign opposing the United States, are demonstrating.
The procession was supposed to be peaceful, although the security at the entrance to the Green Zone informed the agency that no one searched the participants. They simply climbed over the fence separating the central guarded part of the city from its rest of its territory.
Protesters crossed the bridge over the Tiger River, chanting "Run, panties!" - Apparently, to the legislators who leave the parliament. Also, on the frames of television, there are screams that the demonstration is "peaceful".
Rudaw, meanwhile, reports that the participants set fire to at least one car.
When the demonstrators approached the quarter, where the US Embassy was bordered, the police used tear gas against them, Reuters reports.
TASS indicates that the supporters of the AS-Sadra went to the protest against the transfer of a meeting of the legislative body dedicated to voting in the composition of the new Council of Ministers (Government). Due to acute disagreements, the people's deputies cannot hold this vote for more than two weeks, which exacerbates the political crisis in the country.
In the fortified "green zone" of Baghdad, the majority of government institutions are located, as well as the embassies and diplomatic enterprises.
After the attack on the parliament, the operational headquarters of the Iraqu “Baghdad” announced today about the overlap of all entrances to the capital of the country. As the command stated, those who wish can leave the city. In the capital, the emergency mode has been introduced.
