Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Alexei Kudrin as deputy chairman of the Economic Council under the president. This was reported in the Decree "On Amendments to the Regulation on the Economic Council under the President of the Russian Federation", published on the Kremlin website .

"The Council includes Kudrin A.L. - dean of the faculty of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Higher Education St. Petersburg State University - as Deputy Chairman of the Council," the document says.

Earlier, ex-Minister of Finance Alexei Kudrin headed the Center for Strategic Development (CSR) . The economist told reporters that, on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, will prepare the development strategy of Russia after 2018.

Earlier, during the direct line on April 14, Vladimir Putin said that Kudrin will work in the expert council under the President of the Russian Federation. Then the head of state said that the former minister at one of the sites of effective structures, perhaps the Center for Strategic Research, will deal with issues related to the country's development strategy in the near future and in the future.

Putin called Kudrin "one of the rare useful experts" and noted that he had refused to work in administrative bodies for a long time. According to the president, now the situation has changed and the former minister "is ready to contribute to the solution of the tasks that are facing the country."

Alexey Kudrin served as deputy chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation - Minister of Finance from May 2000 to September 2011. On September 25, 2011, Kudrin, in an interview with reporters in Washington, where he participated in a meeting of the International Monetary Fund, reported serious disagreements with President Dmitry Medvedev and refused to work in the future government under his beginning after the 2012 elections. The next day, the decree of President Kudrin was dismissed.
