
The exercises entitled “Peaceful Sokol-2016” began at the Ignaly nuclear power plant, TASS reports.
They will be attended by units of the Zoknyai air base, air defense forces, representatives of the United Headquarters of the Lithuanian Army, the Office for the Observation and Control of the airspace, the Air Force of the Air Force for the Repair of Weapons and Technology, the State Border Protection Service and the Fire-Rescue Service.
They will work out the interaction in the airspace of the nuclear facility and the readiness of units and combat units to carry out various tasks in peacetime. The exercises will last until May 6.
On December 31, 2009, the Ignalin NPP with the Chernobyl type reactors ceased its work as unsafe. Initially, it was planned to be completed by 2029, then the deadline was postponed to 2038.
