To counteract the increase in NATO forces near the borders of Russia, the Ministry of Defense will form three new divisions. This was stated by the head of the military department Sergey Shoigu, reports TASS.
"The Ministry of Defense takes a number of measures to counteract the buildings of NATO forces in the immediate vicinity of Russian borders. Before the end of the year, two new divisions will be formed in the Western Military District, one in the Southern Military District," Shoigu said. According to him, the deployment of location of these compounds is currently being arranged.
"I have given instructions to apply the most advanced construction decisions during the construction of the facilities. We are talking about block -modular structures. The technology of fluid production and the supply of modules allows you to build a building for three, a maximum of four weeks," the minister said.
Shoigu announced the creation of three new divisions in the western direction in January. In March, a source in the headquarters of the Southern Military District said that by the end of 2016 a new motorized rifle division of about 10 thousand people will be deployed in the Rostov region. "For its arrangement in the Rostov region, three military towns will be erected," the military noted. “According to preliminary estimates, the costs of arranging parts and units of the new motorized rifle division will amount to at least 5 billion rubles,” the source said.
