Apple finally lost to the Chinese company the right of exclusive use of the iPhone brand in China

The Chinese company Xintong Tiandi Technology, which sells bags, mobile phone covers and other leather products under the iPhone brand, won a court dispute against Apple, the BBC Russian service reports. Thus, the manufacturer of smartphones has lost the exclusive right to use the iPhone brand in the country.

The decision in favor of the Chinese company was issued by the Municipal People's Court of Beijing. Apple began the lawsuit back in 2012, but the lower courts refused to satisfy her lawsuit. The highest instance court ruled: the plaintiff could not prove that in 2007, when the Xintong Tiandi company applied for the use of the iPhone trademark, he was well known in China. The first iPhone smartphones appeared on the Chinese market in 2009.

It is noted that in the materials of the court there is no difference between different options for writing a brand. Apple traditionally writes the names of his smartphones as "iPhone", while the brand of Xintong Tiandi leather products is indicated by completely in -capital letters - "iPhone", Interfax reports.

Recall that in April, Apple, following the quarter, for the first time since 2003, announced the fall in revenue, as well as a decrease in iPhone smartphones, which now generate two -thirds of the corporation's income.
