The hippo escaped on May 3 from a circus in the Spanish city of Palos de la Frontera. He began to wander the streets in search of a safe place. Passers-by took pictures of the hippopotamus, but tried to stay away from him just in case.
At some point, the fugitive stopped to chew some grass.
The stay of the hippo in the wild turned out to be short-lived - he was soon caught and taken back to the circus. The name of the establishment from which the hippopotamus escaped remains unknown.
