1921. Sophie Sholle was born

95 years ago, on May 9, 1921, Sophie Sholle, a student at the University of Munich, an activist of the Belaya Rosa Antinoset Resistance Group, was born. Since the summer of 1942, the group distributed leaflets directed against the Nazi regime. On February 18, 1943, Sophie, her brother Hans, as well as their comrade Christoph Probst, were arrested by Gestapo, and already executed on February 22.

The verdict of the People’s Chamber said: “The accused called for the sabotage of military industry, they condemned the national socialist lifestyle of our people, promoted amazing moods and spoke in a worst way about the Fuhrer. Thereby they played the enemies of the Reich and undermined the defense capabilities of our country. For this they will have to pay their own lives.”

Now the square in front of the main building of the University of Munich is named Sophie and Hans Sholle.
