Europa Plus Tomsk radio stations refused to renew their broadcasting license. The radio station belongs to the well-known opposition television company TV-2.
The radio station was denied the renewal of the license for frequency 103.4 on the pretext of non-compliance with the media law, article 19, paragraph 1. This article provides for the restriction of media activities for persons with dual citizenship. However, none of the people who were involved in the license renewal documents have dual citizenship or even assets abroad, according to TV-2.
Roskomnadzor demanded that the management of the radio station provide confirmation from the Federal Migration Service that they do not have dual citizenship. According to TV-2, this type of confirmation does not officially exist. "Europe Plus Tomsk" will continue to broadcast on the purity of "Sport FM".
